Plane makes emergency landing in field; occupants safe

HUTCHINSON—Occupants of an airplane were all safe after making an emergency landing Wednesday in a field, Hutchinson Fire Department said in a news release.

Firefighters were dispatched to a report of an aircraft emergency, and while crews were en route, contact was made with the Hutchinson Regional Airport control tower, which notified responders that the aircraft made an emergency landing near Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

Arriving at the scene near the intersection of 20th Avenue and Fountainwood Street, firefighters found the downed airplane in a wheat field. The aircraft remained intact, and all occupants safely exited the airplane before responders arrived, the fire department said in the news release.

Occupants were evaluated by Reno County Emergency Medical Services and were released at the scene.
