
Larry G. Smith, 79, died, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at his residence, Burrton.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1947, at Wichita, to George, C., and Ruth Ann (Gamet) Smith.
He was a 1965 graduate of Andale High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.
He worked as a press operator for the Coleman company in Maize for 30 years until his retirement. He was most widely known for his family’s truck farm operation north of Burrton. He grew many types of produce that he sold at farmers’ markets in Wichita. Some of his most popular sellers and what he was known for were his pumpkins, cantaloupes and watermelons.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead.
On Oct. 13, 1973, he married Ruth Ann Hecht at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Andale. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son, Martin (Cara) Smith, Andover; daughters, Jackie (Mark) Leiker, Holly, Colo., and Anna (Nathan) Hahn, Colwich; sisters, Patty (Blake) Webb, Canon City, Colo., and Mary (George) Babbit, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dave Smith, and sisters, Linda Alderdice and Teresa Pushchak.
The Rosary will be said 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead, with the Mass of the Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m., with Father Roger Lumbre’ officiating.
Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Colwich, KS.
Memorial Mass Gifts may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
