New emergency shelter opening delayed

HUTCHINSON—Foundation of Life Ministries announced Friday that the opening of a planned overflow homeless shelter was delayed.

The shelter, named The Refuge Project, was planned to open Dec. 1, but the opening will be postponed until the issues causing the delay—which are unspecified in the announcement—are mitigated.

“Our team is working diligently to address and resolve the challenges that have temporarily paused our launch,” Pastor J.K. Vann said in the announcement. “We remain firmly committed to providing compassionate, supportive services to our unhoused neighbors, and we are confident that The Refuge Project will move forward as soon as these issues are mitigated.”

In the announcement, the church encouraged people without housing to use Noel Lodge at 400 W. Second Ave., Ste. C.
