BENTLEY—A Kansas City-based solar panel company has been soliciting sales in northern Sedgwick County and Harvey County, the City of Bentley said in a news release Thursday.
Bentley Police Department was investigating the matter, including reports that sales agents were displaying IdeaTek identification, the release said, adding that IdeaTek said they were not affiliated with the solar panel sales. IdeaTek did not respond to a request for comment before publication.
The news release said the solar panel company was not licensed by the Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department since 2021 and was not authorized to do any construction in the city.
The news release advised that residents who are approached by solar sales representatives should ask for proof of licensing and permits, as well as a business card.
“Do not enter into any purchasing agreement until you check with your local city or county as to legalities and permitting,” the release said.
