2 men shot Monday in Hutch

HUTCHINSON—Hutchinson Police Department is investigating a shooting Monday night, the department announced Tuesday morning.

Officers were dispatched at 7:46 p.m. to the 1100 block of West 19th Avenue and at 7:52 p.m. to the area of 19th Avenue and Monroe Street, both in response to a reported shooting, HPD said in a news release.

In the 1100 block of West 19th, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in stable condition and was released later after treatment, HPD wrote.

At 19th and Monroe, police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds in a vehicle, HPD wrote. He was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in critical condition, then transferred to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis hospital in Wichita.

As of Tuesday morning, HPD said no arrests had been made. Detectives were interviewing multiple people who were present during the shooting and others with information.

“Based on what we know at this time, there is no known current threat to the public,” HPD wrote in the news release.
