By Hutchinson Tribune Staff

HUTCHINSONJust in time for the holiday season, the “Prairie Nutcracker” arrives at the Hutchinson Fox Theatre. 18 E. First Ave. in Hutchinson on Dec. 12 through 14.

Composed and adapted by Rick Kuethe, “Prairie Nutcracker” is a Kansas interpretation of the Christmas classic, “The Nutcracker” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The production replaces the traditional European setting of the original ballet with a small prairie fort on the Kansas plains.

“It’s about home, heart, and the beauty of simple joys,” said Sarah Snider, production manager for this year’s production.

The production features a cast of more than 60 local dancers, adult dignitaries, and musicians.

Show times on Dec. 12 and Dec. 13 are at 7:30 p.m. and the Dec. 14 showing is at 3 p.m.

Tickets are available only at hutchinsonfox.com.
