HUTCHINSON—Dan Meers, who has portrayed the mascots of the University of Missouri Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, and most recently the Kansas City Chiefs, will deliver the keynote speech at Central Christian School’s annual Stewardship Dinner fundraiser Nov. 15.
The Chiefs announced Meers’ retirement after 35 years as the first full-time KC Wolf mascot in July. According to that announcement, Meers won the 1989 National Collegiate Mascot Championship as Truman the Tiger. He worked briefly in Major League Baseball as the Cardinals’ mascot, Fredbird, before joining the Chiefs as KC Wolf in 1990.
The Stewardship Dinner will be Nov. 15 at Central Christian School, 1910 E. 30th Ave. in Hutchinson. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
