Two rural Haven cemeteries will be part of a nationwide wreath-laying event in memory of veterans this December.

After a Wreaths Across America ceremony, volunteers will lay live balsam wreaths at veterans’ graves in Laurel Cemetery west of Haven and Haven (Priest) Cemetery southeast of Haven, local organizer Jake Feil said. It will be the initiative’s second year in the Haven area.

Feil said 190 veterans are laid to rest in Laurel Cemetery, and another 40 in Haven (Priest) Cemetery.

He said the best way for people to get involved with the initiative is through the local Facebook page, facebook.com/WAALaurelCemetery. Feil said the program can use more volunteers.

This year’s ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at Laurel Cemetery, 5395 E. Greenfield Road, the news release said. Volunteers will also lay wreaths at Haven (Priest) Cemetery along Castleton Road between Victory and Rayl roads.
