Railroad to close five crossings for repairs

By Hutchinson Tribune Staff

HUTCHINSON—The City of Hutchinson announced Monday that Union Pacific Railroad would be closing a number of railroad crossings for repairs beginning Tuesday.

The railroad will fully close crossings on 17th, Sixth, and Fourth avenues, the city wrote in a news release. Detours will be established to 11th Avenue, where a flagger will be present to help traffic move through repairs at that crossing.

Additional closures will occur where the railroad crosses Lorraine Street and Second Avenue, the news release said. The city said Union Pacific projected the crossings would be closed until Friday, depending on weather.

The city encouraged drivers to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time, use alternative routes when possible, and use caution in work zones.

The city said it would provide a detour map as soon as one was available.
