A draft floodplain map shows the extent of the 100-year floodplain in and around Hutchinson, South Hutchinson, and Willowbrook that could become official as soon as 2027. Areas highlighted in green would be removed from the current floodplain map, areas in yellow would remain in the floodplain, and areas in red would be added to the floodplain map. Numbered circles show the approximate locations of drainage projects Hutchinson Public Works aims to perform in the next year in time to reduce additions to the floodplain. Those are (1) at Farmington Park, (2) at Fairgrounds Park, (3) near the intersection of 23rd Avenue and Apple Lane, (4) near the intersection of 17th Avenue and Severance Street, (5) near the intersection of 14th Avenue and Cochran Street, (6) at Shadduck Park, (7) at Elmdale Park, and (8) near the intersection of Avenue F and Chestnut Street.
