The Hutchinson High School girls swim team placed fourth at the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division I championship Saturday at Maize.
The fourth-place showing is the highest for a Salthawks team in the past decade, said Hutchinson swim coach Brad Johnson.
Derby won the team title with 497 points, followed by Maize South with 325, Maize 289, Hutchinson 273, Salina South 242, Valley Center 198 and Haysville Campus 161.
Hutchinson swimmers will now get ready for the state swim meet weekend, said Johnson.
The Classes 6A and 5-1A Girls Swimming and Diving State Championships will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Capitol Federal Natatorium-Hummer Sports Park in Topeka.
“Hutchinson High School will be well represented at state next weekend in Topeka,” Johnson said. “We will have at least four individual swims but maybe up to nine. All three of our relays are automatically qualified to swim.”
State qualifiers for Hutchinson: Julianna Stivers, Aubrey Gooch, Alayna Wiggins, Morgan Most, Kensley Keast, Emma Buller.
