The Hutchinson Community College baseball team (37-10) will host Allen County (16-31) in the Region 6 Tournament at Hobart-Detter Field.
The first game of the best 2-of-3 series is at 3 p.m. Wednesday and Game 2 is at 1 p.m. Thursday. If a third game is needed, it will be played at 1 p.m. Friday.
The Blue Dragons are the No. 3 seed in the Jayhawk West Conference and No. 5 overall seed. Allen County is the No. 6 from the Jayhawk East and No. 12 overall.
There will be no admission for the series. All games will be streamed live and for free on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
Hutchinson swept four games from the Red Devils this season.
The Hutchinson-Allen County winner advances to the Plains District (Region 6) Tournament for an eight-team double-elimination series and will play the Cowley College-Seward County series winner on May 13 at Salina’s Dean Evans Stadium.
Hutchinson girls swim team 11th, Buhler 14th at Maize Invitational
The Hutchinson High School girls swim team placed 11th and Buhler 14th at the 20-team Maize Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Hutchinson scored 104 points and Buhler 57.
Andover won the meet with 378 points, followed by Andover Central with 228.
Hutchinson’s AJ Gooch placed fifth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 34.74 seconds. Alayna Wiggins and Gooch placed sixth and 10th in the 500-yard freestyle with times of 5:52.22 and 6:27.72. Wiggins placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke with a personal-best time of 1:06.71.
Buhler’s Ellie Goering placed eighth in the 1-meter diving competition with 260.20 points. The Buhler 200-yard free relay A team placed eighth with a time of 1:54.42.
The Hutchinson and Buhler 400-yard freestyle relay teams placed sixth and ninth with times of 4:08.39 and 4:26.04.

Buhler’s Natalya Krafels to play in KBCA Girls All-Star Team
Buhler High School senior Natalya Krafels, a 5-foot-9 forward, was selected to play on the Blue Team in the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game.
Halstead High School’s Derek Schutte, who led the Dragon girls to the Class 3A state championship, will be one of the coaches for the Gold Team. He is the KBCA Class 3A Girls Coach of the Year.
Andover’s Aliyah Green, who competed at Hutchinson during her freshman and sophomore seasons, was also selected.
The KBCA Girls and Boys All-Star Games will be played Saturday, June 21, at Mabee Arena on the Kansas Wesleyan University campus in Salina.
The girls game starts at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game at 8 p.m.

• Sterling High School’s Derek Schneider was named KBCA 2A Boys Coach of the Year. He guided the Sterling Black Bears to the Class 2A state title.
• Washburn University’s Brett Ballard, an alumnus of Hutchinson High School and the University of Kansas, is the KBCA Four-Year Men’s College Coach of the Year. Ballard also is the MIAA and NABC District Coach of the Year.
Ballard lead the Ichabods to a 30-4 season record (16-0 at home). Washburn reached the NCAA Division II Final Four.
