The Buhler High School girls and boys placed second at Friday’s El Dorado Invitational track and field meet.
The Buhler girls scored 87.5 points and the Crusader boys scored 87.
Andover won the girls team title with 98.5 points and the Kapaun-Mount Carmel boys ran off with the boys team title with 186.5.
First-place finishers for the Buhler girls were Ava Koster, high jump, 5-2; and Sofia Spies, long jump, 17-10 1/2.
First-place finishers for the Buhler boys were Garrett Gleason, high jump, 6-0; and Max Harmony, pole vault, 14-2.
Second-place finishers for the Buhler girls were the 4×100-meter relay, 52.2; Lillie Ledford, 400-meter run, 1:00.2; and Jenna Lackey, 10-6.
Second-place finishers for the Buhler boys were Dexter Fleeman, high jump, 5-10; Aidan Anderson, 110-meter hurdles,15.42 and 300 hurdles, 41.99; Benjamin Clouse, 100-meter dash, 10.98; 4×100-meter relay, 44.26; and Gavin Lindahl, 3200, 9:33.2.

Inman, Haven, Nickerson, Lyons athletes compete in James Thomas Invitational at Hillsboro
Boys and girls track athletes from Inman, Haven, Nickerson and Lyons competed at Friday’s JamesThomas Invitational at Hillsboro.
In girls competition, Inman placed seventh with 50 points, Nickerson 12th with 10 points and Lyonsand Haven tied for 13th with 2 points.
In boys competition, Inman placed sixth with 40 points, Nickerson seventh with 24 points, Haven tied for eighth with Sedgwick with 22 points and Lyons placed 12th with 13 points.
Hesston won the girls team title with 98 points and Moundridge won the boys team title with 115 points.
Nickerson’s Levi Pauley won the boys 1600-meter race with a time of 4:49.68 and Delaney Childs won the girls javelin with a toss of 129-9.
Inman’s Samuel Brensing placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.39 seconds.
Inman’s Malachi Brunk and Haven’s Van Loop placed second and third in the 200 with times of 23.44 and 23.54 seconds.

Former Blue Dragons Roland, Simmons sign with Seattle Seahawks
Former Hutchinson Blue Dragons Demeco Roland and Shamari Simmons have recently signed with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks as undrafted free agents.
Roland, a 6-foot-3, 312-pound nose tackle, played in 22 games in three years for Hutchinson Community College (2019-21) and made 39 tackles (16 solo), signed with the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League on Friday.
Roland played in 17 games in his two seasons at Southern Mississippi. He made 34 tackles, 1 sack and 5.5 tackles for loss for the Eagles.
According to Spotrac, Roland signed a 3-year, $2.965 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks, including an average annual salary of $988,333. In 2025, Roland will earn a base salary of $840,000 with a salary cap hit of $840,000.
Roland was a member of the 2020-21 NJCAA football championship team.
Roland is a native of Broken Arrow, Okla., and attended Broken Arrow High School. He studied business at Hutchinson Community College.
Simmons, a 6-foot, 200-pound defensive back, played college football at Hutchinson, Austin Peay and Arizona State.
Simmons redshirted as a freshman in 2019 at Hutchinson Community College, which was also attended by former Sun Devil cornerback Ro Torrence.
He totaled 20 tackles in four appearances during the Blue Dragons’ 2020-21 NJCAA national championship season. Simmons made three tackles in the NJCAA national championship game against Snow College.
Simmons was Arizona State’s defensive MVP in each of the last two seasons.
He recorded 153 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two interceptions, 12 passes defended, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 26 games.
