The United States Postal Service will not be delivering or handling mail this Thursday, January 9.
This is due to the death of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at age 100 on Dec. 29, 2024. Carter’s official state funeral will take place on Thursday.
“There will be no residential or business delivery,” a press release from USPS said. “There will be limited package delivery service on Jan. 9 to ensure the organization does not experience any impacts to its package delivery operations that may negatively affect customers or business partners.”
Carter served as president from 1987 to 1981. He was the first president to live to be 100.
