Salthawk Volleyball Team Camp is July 8-10

The Salthawk Volleyball Team Camp will be July 8-10 at the Salthawk Activity Center. 

Camp for Grades 3-6 will take place from 8:30-10 a.m., followed by high school from 10 a.m. to noon and middle school from 1-3 p.m.

Cost is $30 for each camper. Registration and payment are both due the first day of camp. All campers get a Salthawk volleyball T-shirt.

Blue Dragon women’s soccer camp is July 20

The Blue Dragon women’s soccer team is hosting its high school girls ID camp on July 20 at the Salthawk Soccer Complex. 

The deadline to register has been moved to July 7 so there is plenty of time to get signed up.

Central Kansas Crushers 18U team to play in Nebraska tournament this weekend

The Central Kansas Crushers 18 and under softball team will compete in the Top Gun Nebraska Thunder/Gold Invite Friday through Sunday in Omaha.

In pool play on Friday, the Crushers will play Nebraska God Swift at noon and Alliance Select at 3 p.m.

In pool play Saturday, the Crushers play Nebraska Gold Butler at 8 a.m. and Prodigy Roth at 11:10 a.m.

Bracket play will take place on Sunday.

“The girls will be competing against some top level competition this weekend in Omaha,” said Kansas Crushers coach John Young on the Crushers Facebook page. “Looking forward to a great weekend of softball.”

Smoky Hills PBS to re-air KSHSAA State Track Championship

Smoky Hills PBS will be re-airing the 2024 State Track Championship that took place on May 2425 at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Five-star tight end Linkon Cure to commit Monday

Linkon Cure, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound five-star tight end from Goodland High School will announce his NCAA Division I school commitment at 4 p.m. central time/3 p.m. mountain time Monday in Goodland’s Max Jones Fieldhouse.

Cure is expected to choose between Kansas State, Kansas, Texas A&M and Oregon.

Goodland High School is billing Cure’s announcement Monday as “The Commitment” and is streaming it live on Youtube.

Linkon Cure’s older brother Leyton Cure, a transfer from Fort Hays State, recently signed as a preferred walk-on at Kansas.

Big 12 announces 2024-25 scheduling for basketball league games

The Big 12 Conference announced its new league scheduling format for the 2024-25 men’s and women’s basketball season.

The 2024-25 season marks the Big 12’s first year with 16 member institutions.

New additions to the Big 12 are former Pac-12 schools Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah. Colorado returns to the Big 12 after being a member of the Pac-12 from 2011-2023. 

The Big 12 lost Oklahoma and Texas to the Southeastern Conference starting in the fall of 2024.

The Big 12 added BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati and Houston in 2023.

Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A full Big 12 schedule will be released at a later date.
