LETTER: Former commissioner endorses Moore

I am writing in support of Carol Moore, candidate for Reno County Commission.

Carol has a unique background that would allow her to make an excellent county commissioner. Carol earned a PhD from Kansas State University in adult and continuing education after receiving a Master of Nursing degree from Wichita State University. She practiced and taught nursing at several educational institutions. Since the health department is one of the largest departments in Reno County, her nursing background will be beneficial to Reno County.

Carol has prior experience as an elected official in our area. She was mayor of The Highlands for over six years. She is currently the city clerk of The Highlands. This past elected and government experience will give her a head start when joining the Reno County Commission.

Carol also has valuable experience with the Kansas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, another area of importance to Reno County.

I first met Carol six years ago when I was on the county commission. She attended county commission meetings because she felt it was her responsibility to the citizens of The Highlands as mayor. Carol has continued to attend county commission meetings and knows what it takes to sit on the commission.

Having been an elected official myself, I know that it will be beneficial to have Carol’s background and experience as a new Reno County commissioner representing the northwest district. I also believe that it will be beneficial to add a woman to the county commission for the first time since Francis Garcia was elected many years ago.

For the above reasons, Reno County will benefit tremendously from Carol’s knowledge and experience when elected to the county commission on Nov. 3.

Thank you for your consideration of Carol Moore for the northwest district of Reno County!
