HUTCHINSON—The Hutchinson Fire Department said three of its members and Brush Truck 71 deployed Sunday to the Gold Mountain Fire near Ouray, Colorado, to combat a growing wildfire.
HFD said the crew was expected to reach the area by Monday afternoon and began a 14-day assignment to help suppress the wildfire and support departments from across the country in battling the fire. As of Sunday, the fire had grown to 38,848 acres and is located on the western part of the state.
“This continues to be an exceptionally busy wildfire season, and we are proud to answer the call to assist our neighboring states,” HFD said in a press release. “Please keep our firefighters, along with all personnel working on the wildfires across the nation, in your thoughts as they work to protect lives, property and natural resources.”
