HUTCHINSON—Both of the occupants of a small plane were uninjured after they had to make an emergency landing Wednesday in a field, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol and Hutchinson Fire Department.

According to a KHP crash log, Steven Craig Suddath of Edgewood, New Mexico, was flying a 2000 Air Cam airplane when the plane ran out of fuel and had to make an emergency landing around 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20. He landed the plane in a wheat field north of 20th Avenue and west of Fountainwood Street.

According to a news release from the Hutchinson Fire Department, the aircraft remained intact, and the occupants safely exited the airplane before emergency responders arrived. The pilot and his passenger, Deborah Annette Suddarth, also of Edgewood, New Mexico, were evaluated by Reno County Emergency Medical Services and released at the scene.
