LETTER: Sen. Marshall has failed Kansans

When a politician is not doing his job, he needs to be replaced. Every election cycle we are beset by noble saviors. They alone can solve our problems. They need our money, our time, and our blind devotion to their noble cause. Roger Marshall has been conducting a stealth corner-to-corner outreach to a select few Kansans, just long enough for a headline.

Kansans gave Marshall what he asked for. He was elected as our U.S. senator. Representing a state with barely three million residents, he has had the opportunity to affect change, and provide assistance, with the same clout as a senator whose state’s cities have a larger population than our state.

Our senator has failed us. The pseudo farm boy and pseudo Kansan lives in Florida. His official Kansas residence is a fish camp in Stafford County. Roger has spent six years on prairie chicken memes, Chiefs clown suits, standing behind Trump in photo ops, and Fox News interviews. Roger’s landmark legislation achievements are mandating access to one half pint of whole milk a day for school children and roomier cages for chickens on chicken farms.

Donald Trump got the same number of votes in 2024 that Biden got in 2020. He is president because six million people chose not to vote for either candidate. Our Kansas senator has hitched his wagon to a conman, mentored by a Mafia lawyer. Trump’s credos are deny, delay, sue, insult, belittle, blame others, and hate. Trump’s Cabinet and advisors are conmen and opportunistic family members. They have never farmed, driven a truck, worked construction, or worked in a factory, machine shop, or warehouse. Their skill is making your money their money.

So what do we have? An oil and beef-producing state with $3 a gallon gasoline and $19 ground beef. We have a wind generator plant mostly idle because oil execs paid $1 billion to Trump’s campaign fund. China made more money last year selling passive energy equipment than the U.S. did selling oil and LP gas. We have war; we have a regime police force killing and detaining U.S. citizens; murder and piracy on the oceans, and general misery being visited on poor and disadvantaged people globally in our names. And we have Roger Marshall saying, “Stop whining and be grateful for Donald Trump.” Come on, give me a joke!
