LETTER: KidWind teaching important skills

It was my pleasure to attend, for my second year, the Regional KidWind Challenge on Feb. 17, hosted by HutchCC at Stringer Fine Arts Center. Adam Stewart wrote an excellent article about this program and the local schools that participated.

The students, from all grade levels, worked in teams on this project at their schools. They designed and built their wind turbines that were then tested in the timed event at the Challenge. During the short amount of time they have to present and test their turbine, they often have to make quick re-evaluations and changes.

It involves teamwork, immediate problem-solving, and analysis. These are skills they will use all their lives. This program is truly a tribute to these students and their teachers. Congratulations to all.
