
Dorothy A. Dick of Buhler, Kansas, passed away on Friday Dec. 5, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 6, 1941, in Kingman, Kansas, to Elmer C. and Hilda M.(Voran) Krehbiel. Dorothy was baptized June 9, 1957, at Bethany Mennonite Church, Kingman, Kansas. She later transferred her membership to Buhler Mennonite Church, where she played the organ for many years.
Dorothy attended Kingman schools, graduating in 1959 and then Bethel College for two years, earning an associate degree in office administration. After college, she worked as a secretary in Newton and Hutchinson. She was a stay at home mom while her children were young and for a time was the secretary at Buhler Mennonite Church. She was then hired at Buhler Grade School as the school secretary, a position she held for 23 years, retiring in 2004. She was also a volunteer at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community and helped whenever needed on the family farm, driving trucks, watching gates and bringing many meals to the fields.
On Feb. 7, 1965, Dorothy was married to Arlen L. Dick at Bethany Mennonite Church rural Kingman, Kansas, he preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 2022.
She is survived by her sons, Russell (Melaney) Dick of Buhler and Todd Dick of Buhler; grandsons, Nate Dick and Ethan Dick; sisters, Bertha Wedel of Buhler and Kathy (Ron) Knak of Puerto Rico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Margie Yutzy and Betty Martin.
Graveside services will be held at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, at Buhler Municipal Cemetery, with memorial services to follow at 11 a.m. at Buhler Mennonite Church. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 12, at Buhler Mortuary, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Buhler Mennonite Church or Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS, 67522.
