HUTCHINSON—The Hutchinson Fire Department rescued a victim of possible monoxide poisoning late Monday evening, Nov. 24, in the 1200 block of East 30th Avenue in Hutchinson.
Upon arrival at the scene, HFD crews located two people on the west side of the building and were informed that there was an unconscious victim still inside the building. When crews entered the building, their CO and 4 gas monitors went off, and they dragged the unconscious victim outside the building.
Two patients were transported to the hospital by Reno County EMS for treatment and further evaluation.
When additional HFD crews arrived at the scene to investigate, they found extremely high levels of carbon monoxide in the building. The building was opened up and ventilated using high-flow electric fans until zero readings were found.
