HUTCHINSON—Local educator, therapist, and author Katie McDonald will have a signing for her very first book, “Rooted in Hope: 12 Practices for Resilience-Building Educators” from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Sage River Market.
In “Rooted in Hope,” McDonald hopes to bring readers into her movement to reimagine education through the lenses of healing, equity, and human connection. The book offers stories and practical strategies that McDonald thinks can help educators not only support their students but also change the culture of their schools.
McDonald has worn many hats in her professional career, currently working as an Embedded Social Worker for the City of Hutchinson’s First Responder Wellness Program, and at her private practice, Rooted Hope Counseling and Consulting. As an educator, she was awarded the 2014 Kansas Regional Teacher of the Year and the 2013 USD 308 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
“Rooted in Hope: 12 Practices for Resilience-Building Educators” can be ordered, and more information about Katie’s work is available at katiemcdonald.org.
