Train derails on the Union Pacific line parallel to K-61

HUTCHINSON—One lane is closed on the northbound lane of K-61, between 17th and 30th Avenue, as cleanup work continues on a train derailment.

According to Union Pacific Railroad, approximately two dozen cars derailed around 1 a.m. on Nov. 3. The derailment did not result in any injuries.

The incident is currently under investigation.

Hutchinson Mayor Stacy Goss has asked that drivers and pedestrians avoid the area.
