HUTCHINSON—Young artists will use watercolors to make paintings of koi fish in the Hutchinson Art Center’s monthly children’s art project on Nov. 8.

Artist and educator Beckie Vega of Lindsborg will lead two sessions of the class for different ages and skill levels.

Group A, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., is geared toward 6 and 7-year-olds and will feature a watercolor resist technique. Group B, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., is oriented toward 8 through 12-year-olds and will use watercolors and pens and teach layering and blending watercolors, according to the Hutchinson Art Center website.

Koi are colorful varieties of domesticated Amur carp, originally bred in Japan, and are popular subjects for artwork.

Space in the classes is limited, and registration is due Nov. 7. For more information or to register, visit hutchinsonartcenter.net or visit the Hutchinson Art Center at 405 N. Washington St.
