HUTCHINSON—The Reno County Health Department is seeking proposals for ways to address opioid misuse and addiction, using funds from a national opioid settlement.

The Health Department’s committee overseeing local settlement funds is seeking grant proposals for funding in 2026. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, special purpose government units, and community groups that have a tax-exempt fiscal sponsor, according to a news release.

According to the release, funding priority will be given to projects that increase the availability of naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses, access to medication to treat opioid use disorder, the creation or expansion of programs of coordinated care and recovery services, access to evidence-based treatment and recovery supports for people with opioid use disorder in jail or prison, provide evidence-based behavioral health services as an alternative to incarceration, enrich evidence-based school- and community-based prevention programs, or support data collection and evaluation of abatement programs and strategies.

Previous grants have been made to United Way of Reno County, the Reno County District Attorney’s Office, Horizons Mental Health Center, and PrairieStar Health Center.

Proposals are due Nov. 10. For more information on submitting proposals, visit renocountyks.gov/municipality-fights-addiction-fund.
