HUTCHINSON—Hutchinson High School went into a lockdown Tuesday morning in response to a suspected swatting attempt.
According to an announcement by USD 308, an unknown caller contacted Hutchinson Police Department at 11:36 a.m. about a threat at the school. In response, the district locked down the high school, and Graber Elementary School and the Transitional Learning Center held indoor recess.
Swatting is the practice of placing a phone call to an emergency service about a fake crisis or threat supposedly taking place in a particular location, with the intent of creating an emergency response.
When Hutchinson Police arrived at the school, they created a perimeter around the school, searched the school, and found no credible threat.
School was then allowed to be resumed.
No Hutchinson High School students were found to be responsible for this event.
