Police make attempted homicide arrest after driver strikes pedestrian

HUTCHINSON—Hutchinson Police Department arrested a man on suspicion of attempted first-degree homicide Thursday after a driver struck a pedestrian on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East Third Avenue, police announced in a press release.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance at 9:01 a.m. Thursday, after a passing motorist called 911 to report that a vehicle hit a female pedestrian walking on the sidewalk. When police arrived, the pedestrian had visible injuries. She was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment.

A police investigation identified a suspect the pedestrian knew, and police arrested Jeffrey L. McCaskey on suspicion of attempted first-degree homicide.
