The No. 15-ranked Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragon women’s soccer team opens the season against No. 12 Trinity Valley at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, at the Salthawk Soccer Complex.
Head Coach Sammy Lane is 270-74-19 in his first 20 seasons at Hutchinson. He is the only head coach in Hutchinson Blue Dragon women’s soccer history.
The 2025 Blue Dragons return six players from a squad that posted an 11-2-7 record in 2024 and placed third in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference with an 8-2-6 record.
In 2024, the Blue Dragons defeated Dodge City 1-0 in overtime in the opening round and upended Butler 2-1 in the semifinals to earn their first Region 6 Tournament championship berth since 2014.
The Blue Dragons lost to Cowley College in the Region 6 championship game in penalty kicks in the title game.
The Blue Dragons are No. 15 in the 2025 NJCAA Division Preseason Rankings.
Returning sophomores for the Blue Dragons are Sofia Bremer, Maria Azevedo, Beatrice Sales, Teagan Garrison, Hannah Lowe and Anastasia Pokrandt.
Incoming freshmen are Rylee Logue, Evie Carvell, Lucy Bacon, Elle Swearingen, Onna Dowling, Bessie Simpson, Poppy Smith, Isabell Van Fleet, Nevaeh Kelly, Isabela Puccinelli, Ava McAninch, Olivia Tamaki, Beatriz Carvlaho and Mikaela Jarrett.
Kansans on the roster are Jarrett (Hutchinson/Buhler High School), Swearingen (Rose Hill), Van Fleet (Topeka/Shawnee Heights), Garrison (Mulvane), Lowe (Wichita/Kapaun-Mount Carmel) and McAninch (Wichita/Goddard Eisenhower). Loague is from Choctaw, Okla.
Hailing from England are Carvell, Bacon, Dowling, Simpson and Smith. Brazilians on the teams are Bremer, Azevedo, Sales, Puccinelli, Tamaki and Carvlaho. Pokrandt is from Germany.
To get ready for the season, the Blue Dragons have scrimmaged against Pittsburg State, Neosho County Community College and Allen County Community College.
HutchCC scrimmages against FC Wichita 08 at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
