Due to the projected high temperatures on Monday, the first day of fall sports practices, the Buhler High School athletic department is making adjustments to their outdoor athletic practice times.
“Again, we are operating under the mandates set by the KSHSAA in regards to heat acclimation,” said Buhler activities director Justin Seuser. “Our number one goal is the safety of our student-athletes and their coaches as we begin our fall athletic seasons.
“I anticipate that we will make other adjustments as the week goes on and those will be communicated by each activities coach at practice on Monday.”
Updated Buhler High School practice information for Monday:
•Cross Country: Head coach Curtis Morgan. Practice: 6 a.m. at Buhler High School track.
•Football: Head coach Steve Warner. Practice: 5:30 a.m. at Buhler High School Stadium.
•Boys soccer: Head coach Josh Tafolla. Practice: 5:30 a.m. at Buhler High School Stadium.
•Girls golf head coach: MaryBeth French. Practice: 6:30 a.m. @ Carey Park Golf Course. Transportation will be provided to BHS at the conclusion of practice, if needed.
•Girls tennis head coach: Matt Babcock. Practice: 6 a.m. at Buhler High School Tennis Complex.
Nickerson’s Delaney Childs to play volleyball at Dodge City CC in 2026
Nickerson High School’s Delaney Childs has committed to play volleyball in 2026 at Dodge City Community College and continue her academic career.

Childs’ commitment was announced on Nickerson’s social media sites on Friday. The official signing date will be announced at a later date.
Childs is a 6-foot-1 senior middle blocker for the Nickerson Panthers. She was named Second Team All-Central Kansas League in 2024.
She has a 4.0 grade point average.
