Hutchinson High School Salthawk alumnus Ty Adkins will compete in the USGA Men’s Amateur golf tournament Monday through next Sunday (Aug. 11-17) at the historic Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Adkins, who graduated from Hutchinson High in 2023, was the first-place medalist in the USGA qualifying tournament July 21 at Milburn Country Club.
Adkins fired a 35-31 for a 6-under-par 66. He is one of four Kansans competing in the tournament.
There will be 312 golfers competing in the 125th U.S. Men’s Amateur Championship.
Adkins is paired with Garrett Rank and Billy Davis in the first round. They will tee off at 2:46 p.m. Central time/12:46 p.m. Pacific time.
Adkins recently wrapped up his sophomore season at Wichita State and is transferring to South Dakota State this fall.
