The Hutchinson Monarchs will play the San Diego Stars at 6 p.m. Friday in the first game of the NBC World Series at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium-Tyler Field.
The Monarchs won the 2023 NBC championship and lost to the Hays Larks in the NBC title game in 2024.
Hutchinson, which defeated the Wichita Wildcats 6-1 last Thursday at Rose Hill High School and beat the Wildcats 6-0 Friday night at Hobart-Detter Field, hosted the Jayhawk Collegiate League All-Star Game on Saturday.
Team Red won the JCL All-Star Game against Team Blue 7-5.
Twelve Monarchs played in the All-Star Game for Team Blue: Jeter Worthley, Jackson Legg, AJ Mustow, Tyson Vassart, Joey Senstock, Jake Guttierrez, Blake Bradford, Drew Bugner, Daegan Vinduska, Bradyn McClure, Ethan Giesbrecht and Riley Dickey.
Also on Friday, the Monarchs hosted a food drive to benefit the Reno County Food Bank.
Hutchinson drew 353 fans on Friday night and set a season record for home game attendance of 6,346 fans.
