The Hutchinson Monarchs defeated the Cannons 10-5 Sunday night at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson and improved their record to 15-5 overall and 9-1 at home.
The Monarchs will play the Kansas Cannons again at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Augusta.
Hutchinson will play a rescheduled game on Saturday night at home versus the Kingman Islanders.
Hutchinson will play the Wichita Wildcats on Monday, July 7, in a weather-suspended game.
Brayden McClure pitched seven innings for the Monarchs. He allowed four runs on five hits, struck out three and walked two.
The Monarchs dropped a 13-6 decision to the Derby Twins Saturday night at Hobart-Detter Field.
Hutchinson led 4-2 through four innings. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Monarchs loaded the bases with no outs. However, the next three Hutchinson batters were retired on strikeouts.
Derby cut the Monarchs’ lead to 4-3 with one run in the top of the sixth inning. Hutchinson scored one run in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-3 lead.
The Twins erupted for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 10-5 lead.
Hutchinson scored one run in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the Derby lead to 10-6. Derby added three more runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Jake Gutierrez went 4-for-5 with two RBIs in his first game with the Monarchs. Jackson Legg had three hits, including an RBI double. Dylan Bell scored twice and drew two walks.
Hutchinson held off a late rally to edge Derby 5-4 Friday night at Panther Field in Derby.
The Monarchs lost to the Newton Rebels 5-3 Thursday night at Klein-Scott Field in Newton.
Before the Monarchs-Twins game Friday night, fans at Hobart-Detter Field were treated to a vintage “Base Ball” game between a pair of the Hutchinson Base Ball Club teams — the Salt Packers vs. The Prairie Dogs.
Hutchinson Salthawk baseball players named to Sports in Kansas Class 5A All-State Team
Hutchinson High School pitcher Caiden Beavers was named to the Sports in Kansas Class 5A All-State Baseball Team released on Saturday.
Beavers graduated in May from Hutchinson High School.
Hutchinson’s Carter Morgan and Jack Davis were honorable mention selections.
Beavers also was named to Sports in Kansas’ Player/Pitcher of the Year Third Nine Team.
Buhler Crusader baseball players recognized on Sports in Kansas 4A All-State Team
Four Buhler High School players were recognized on the 2025 Sports in Kansas Class 4A All-State Baseball Team released on Saturday.
Pitcher Brayden Henry and outfielder Cash Carson, both recent Buhler graduates, were named to the Second Team.
Dylan Scripsick and Mitchel McDaniel were honorable mention selections.
