Monarchs post 2-1 win over Junction City Brigade

The Hutchinson Monarchs defeated the Junction City Brigade 2-1 Wednesday night at Hobart-Detter Field.

The Monarchs (11-2) did not play Thursday.

Lachlan Rosser started for the Monarchs. He allowed one run and one hit, walked four and struck out two in 1 1/3 innings pitched. He worked his way out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the first inning.

Cole Toureau pitched 5 2/3 frames. He allowed one hit, walked three and struck out eight to earn the win. Aiden Sowers recorded the final six outs for the save.

The Brigade scored their only run in the top of the second inning.

Hutchinson tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Jake Knox singled and scored on a triple by Dylan Bell.

The Monarchs took the lead for good in the sixth. Drew Bugner scored on a Junction City error.

Junction City starting pitcher Max Lialios, who got the loss, allowed just four hits and two runs, struck out three and walked one.

Hutchinson plays at Junction City Friday and at Wichita on Saturday against the Wichita Wildcats College team. Hutchinson host the Wichita Wildcats on Monday.
