Marcus Moeder has been promoted to head track coach at Hutchinson High School from assistant coach.
Moeder replaces Andrew Schroter, who was named the new track coach at La Crosse High School in Western Kansas.
Moeder and Schroter both are graduates of LaCrosse High School.
“Coach Schroter has a lot of family in the La Crosse area,” said Hutchinson High School athletic director Steve Kappenman. “One of the main reasons he is making the move is that he will have the opportunity to coach his nephews in football, basketball and track and field. His teaching position at La Crosse will also allow him to be in the weight room on a daily basis, which was also a factor in his decision.”
Moeder also has served as a varsity assistant track and varsity assistant football coach at Hutchinson High School. He also served as the head coach of the Hutchinson Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team.
“I am excited to have Marcus as our head track and field coach and will continue to build this program,” Kappenman said. “He has a lot of great ideas on engaging the youth and getting kids excited about track.”
Moeder attended Wichita State University and was a member of the track team. He competed in sprints, long jump and triple jump.
Area baseball players named to KABC All-State Team
Several area baseball players were named to the Kansas Association All-State Baseball Team.
The KABC released its All-State Teams on Monday.
Hutchinson senior middle infielder Cayden Beavers was named to the Class 5A First Team and senior catcher Carter Morgan was named Honorable Mention.
Buhler senior pitcher Brayden Henry and senior outfielder Cash Carson were named to the Class 4A Second Team.
Haven senior middle infielder Nash Wray made the Class 3A First Team and sophomore third baseman Brogan Wray was Honorable Mention.
Hutchinson Trinity Catholic played two players on the 2025 Class 2A-1A KABC All-State Baseball Team — junior pitcher Drew Dechant and senior designated hitter Jeremy Gentry.
Little River senior middle infielder Logan Renken made the First Team and senior pitcher Spencer Strecker made Honorable Mention.
