After two walk-off wins to reach the Kansas Class 2-1A state softball championship game, the Inman Teutons lost 8-1 to Oskaloosa in the title game Friday night at Pinkall Field-Green Sports Complex in Pratt.
Oskaloosa finished the 2025 season with a 25-5 record. Inman finished with a 24-2 record.
In the third-place game, Dexter/Cedar Vale defeated Leon-Bluestem 9-5. Dexter/Cedar Vale finished the season with a 29-1 record and Leon-Bluestem posted a 29-2 record.
The Oskaloosa-Inman contest featured a pair of sophomore pitching aces in Inman right-hander Lyla Levin and Oskaloosa left-hander Lily Pullen.
The Oskaloosa Bears scored two runs against Levin in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning, Inman’s Allison Schrag led off with a double and scored on Maddie Parsons’ RBI double to cut the Bears’ lead to 2-1.
Oskaloosa added two more runs on a Lydia Turner single in the top of the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead.
Oskaloosa’s Keirstyn Mitchell added a two-run inside-the-park home run in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 6-1. The Bears tacked on another run on an RBI single.
Inman catcher Maddie Parsons ended the inning by throwing out an Oskaloosa runner at second base trying to steal.
In the top of the sixth, Oskaloosa’s Karleigh Warriner circled the bases for another inside-the-park home run. The Bears led 8-1.
Inman defeated No. 3-seed Leon-Bluestem (21-5) 2-1 in 10 innings in the semifinals. Allison Schrag took advantage of two Lions errors in the bottom of the 10th and dashed home with the winning run.
It was the second straight extra-inning game for the Teutons, who won a 7-6 walk-off thriller over Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan in the first round on Thursday.
Levin pitched for the Teutons in the semifinal game and picked up her 17th win of the season.
The Leon-Bluestem Lions scored one run in the top of the first inning. Inman tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
Inman had runners on base in the bottom of the sixth inning but the Teutons weren’t able to score.
The Lions put a runner on base with a two-out single in the top of the seventh inning, but could not score. Inman did not score in the bottom of the seventh, forcing the game into extra innings.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Lions threw out an Inman runner at home plate to record the third out to keep the score at 1-1.
In the top of the ninth, the Lions had runners at first and second against Levin but could not score. Inman did not score in the bottom of the ninth.
In the other semifinal game Friday, Oskaloosa defeated Dexter/Cedar Vale 1-0.
