Schools in the Hutchinson Tribune coverage area competed in regionals Thursday and qualified numerous for the 2025 Kansas State Track and Field Championships May 29-30 at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium.
The top four places in each individual event and relays from regional competition qualified for the state track meet.
Class 5A regional track at Great Bend: Hutchinson.
Hutchinson High School senior KeiRre Martinez is the 5A Great Bend regional girls long jump champion and 5A state qualifier with a personal-record effort of 18 feet, 1 inch.
Hutchinson’s Camrynn Harris qualified for 5A state with a fourth-place finish in the boys 200-meter dash, posting a time of 22.79 seconds. He ran a 22.7 time in the preliminaries.
Harris placed sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25 seconds.
Hutchinson senior Madalyn Moore just missed qualifying in the girls triple jump with a fifth-place effort 34-9. It was a personal record.
Avery Meier just missed qualifying in the girls 200-meter dash with her time of 27.05 seconds.
Hutchinson senior Jaiden May missed qualifying with a sixth-place effort in the boys javelin with his effort of 147-3. It was a personal record.

Class 4A regional track at Abilene: Buhler
The Buhler girls 4×100-meter team consisting of Camryn Goertz, Jenna Lackey, Aaliyah Levin and Sofia Spies placed first at the Class 4A track regionals Thursday at Abilene.
The foursome broke the school record that was held for 29 years. The record was 49.46 seconds. Thursday, the 4×100 ran a 49.08 time.
It is the second best time in 4A (going off last week’s record board).
The girls 4×400 relay placed third with a time of 4:11.26 and the 4×800-meter relay team placed fourth in 10:01.2.
Jenna Lackey, also a junior at Buhler, cleared 10 feet to win the girls pole vault and qualify for the state track meet. Lackey also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.03 seconds.
Buhler’s Ryan Gotti placed fist in the javelin with a throw of 129-8 and Charley Baxter was second in the shot put with an effort of 34-11.
Addysyn Keller and Spies, both freshmen, placed second and third in the girls long jump with marks of 16-11 and 16-8 1/2. Keller set a personal best. She also placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 32-11.
Spies placed second in the girls 100-meter dash with a time of 12.75 seconds and third in the 200 at 26.28 seconds.
Laney Reiff placed second in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:23.05 and was second in the 1600 in 5:34.29. Corbin Starkweather placed third in the 1600 with a time of 5:46.34.
Buhler’s Caiyra Heinlein placed third in the girls 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.59 seconds and fourth in the 300 hurdles in 48.79.
The Buhler 4×800-meter girls relay team qualified for the 4A state meet with a fourth-place time of 10:01.21. The Crusaders’ foursome consisted of Reiff, Haylee Kinast, Ava Koster and Isabella Friesen.
Isabella Rivera placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.26.
Buhler High School’s Dexter Fleeman and Garrett Gleason placed first and second in the boys high jump. They both cleared 6 feet to qualify for the state meet.
Gleason, a freshman, finished first in the long jump with a mark of 20-8.
Buhler’s Zach Friesen, Aidan Anderson and Landon Martinez placed first, second and third in the boys 110-meter hurdles with times of 14.89, 15.03 and 15.51 seconds.
Anderson, Martinez and Friesen placed first, second and third in the 300-meter hurdles with times of 40.58, 41.85 and 41.96.
The Buhler boys 4×100-meter relay team placed first with a time of 43.32 seconds.
Buhler junior Max Harmony won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 14 feet.
Gavin Lindahl placed second in the 1600-meter run and second in the 3200 with times of 4:28.6 and 10:00.79. Henry Trumpp was third in the 800 and 1600 with times of 4:28.91 and 10:01.17.
Gabe Auxler placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 132-7.

Class 3A regional track at Pomona-West Franklin: Halstead, Haven
The Halstead High School boys 4×100-meter relay team of Finneas Howard, Breeson Bigley, Braxton Creed and Joey Millspaugh placed first at the Class 3A regional Thursday at Pomona-West Franklin with a time of 43.73 seconds.
Halstead also placed second in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:27.51. The relay lineup is Keaston Shields, Henry Harrington, Millspaugh and Bigley.
Millspaugh, a senior, won the boys long jump title with an effort of 21 feet, 3 3/4 inches and placed second in the boys triple jump at 42-7 1/4.
Bigley won the boys 400-meter dash with a time of 50.34 seconds, placed third in the 200 with a time of 21.38 seconds.
Halstead freshman Evan Wiedemann placed fourth in the boys high jump, clearing the bar at 5-10.
Halstead seniors Kurt Faudel and Connor Herman placed third and fourth in the boys shot put with efforts of 48-11 3/4 and 48-5 1/2. Herman also placed fourth in the boys discus at 140-11.
Halstead freshman Annie Williams qualified for the state track meet with a second-place finish in the girls long jump, posting a mark of 17 feet, 1 3/4 inches. She finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.87 seconds.
Seniors Dalaina Schutte and Kahlyn Davis placed third and fifth in the girls javelin with throws of 119-1 and 109-2. Schutte’s effort was a personal record.
Sophomore Katharine Engel placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 108-7.
Haven High School freshman Rilynn Patry placed fourth in the girls shot put with an effort of 35-7 1/2.
Aiden Hoopes (100 meters), Isaiah Doherty (3200 meters) and the boys 4×400 relay (Hoopes, Van Loop, Cole Brawner, and Blake Richey) will also get to compete next week.
The Halstead boys track team placed second with 75.67 points and Haven was 12th with 15 points. The Halstead girls placed ninth with 33 points and the Haven girls placed 15th with 4 points.

Class 3A Regional track at Scott Community: Nickerson, Lyons
Nickerson High School’s Rachel Nisly finished third in 3A girls shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 1 inch.
She was the lone area athlete to qualify for the state meet from the Scott Community regional.

Class 2A regional track at Marion: Hutchinson Trinity, Inman
The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School boys track team was the Class 2A regional runner-up and had 13 state qualifiers.
The Trinity boys scored 70 points to place second. Moundridge won the regional title with 99 points. Inman boys placed eighth with 36 points.
Inman placed second in the 2A Marion regional with 88 points. Marion won the title with 91.5 points.
Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School’s Isaac Hammersmith finished second in the Class 2A regional high jump, clearing 6 feet, 6 inches.
Ell-Saline’s Brogan Rowley, who will compete at the University of Nebraska next year, cleared 6-8 to place first and Moundridge’s Heath Churchill placed third at 6-6.
Hammersmith also qualified in the long jump with a second-place finish.
The 4×400-meter relay team of Roberto Guerrero, Cameron Kiser, Max Ryan and Alex Guajardo placed first with a time of 3:28.51.
Hutchinson Trinity placed first in the boys 4×800-meter relay with a time of 8:24.11. Members of the relay team are Ryan, Ambrose Pennycuff, Malachiey Alvarez and Kiser.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Hammersmith, Ian Rios, Roberto Guerrero and Kaid McElgunn are state qualifiers. They placed fourth with a time of 44.25 seconds.
McElgunn and Hammersmith both qualified in the 100-meter dash, with McElgunn finishing second.
Trinity’s Jacob and John Lindstrom both qualified for the Kansas Class 2A state meet in the 1600-meter run. Jacob and John Lindstrom also qualified in the 3200, Kiser in the 800 and Guajardo in the 400.
The Inman boys 4×800 relay of Tyler Martisko, Riley Roots, Gage Sisson and Cooper Wiens placed fourth with a time of 8:27.09.
Inman’s Katie Nichols placed fourth in the girts long jump with a mark of 16-6. Teammate Suttyn Harris finished sixth at 16-0 1/2.
Harris placed second in the girls ahot put with a toss of 36-2.

Class 1A regional track at Iola: Hutchinson Central Christian, Pretty Prairie, Burrton
Central Christian boys state qualifiers:

• 3rd 4×100 relay 45.77.
• Jayden Linscheid, 1st high jump 6-4.

Central Christian girls state qualifiers:

Class 2A Hill City regional: Sterling
The Sterling High School boys track team placed ninth at the Kansas 2A regional Thursday at Hill City with 33 points.
The Sterling Black Bear girls placed 11th with 26 points.

The Fairfield High School boys track team qualified one athlete for the 1A state track meet Thursday at Greensburg-Kiowa County.
Fairfield’s Brodie Snodgrass placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 39 feet, 6 1/2 inches.
Cunningham girls state qualifiers:
• Emily Ogg, 2nd 100-meter dash 13.22; 4th high jump 4-8.
• Kyra Morgan, 3rd shot put 37-1 1/4 and 4th discus 108-3.
