The boys golf teams from Hutchinson Trinity Catholic and Hutchinson Central Christian placed first and second at the Nickerson Invitational Monday at the par-72 Crazy Horse Sports Club and Golf Course.
The club is located three miles north of Hutchinson.
The Trinity Celtics placed first with a 339 score, followed by the Central Christian Cougars with a 347 score.
Pratt placed fourth with a 365 score, followed by Buhler 375, Ellinwood 377, Hoisington 383, Sterling 386, Nickerson 412, Wichita Warriors 415, Lyons 454, Larned 465, and Pretty Prairie 478.
Kingman’s Kory Meireis fired a 3-over-par 75. He edged out Pratt’s Grant McAtee, who shot a 76, for first-place medalist honors.
Hutchinson Trinity’s Lincoln Barnes placed third with a 79, followed by Central Christian golfers Ryland Kooiman and Cael Kooiman in fourth and fifth place at 80 and 81.
Cael Kooiman tied for fifth with Sterling’s Cameron Morris, who also fired an 81.
Rounding out the top 10 were Ellinwood’s Luke Heinz and Trinity’s Tyler Casebolt, tied for seventh, 84; Pratt’s Beau Ferrell, ninth, 95; and Buhler’s Nick Chance and Trinity’s Seamus Hogan, tied for 10th, 86.
Trinity’s Ian Shaw tied for 13th, 90; Miles Blaylock tied for 17th, 91; Matt Armour, tied for 19th, 95.
Central Christian’s Nathan Reed placed 12th, 88; Tyler Reed tied for 31st, 98; Brady Froese tied for 43rd, 103; and Tarren Scripsick tied for 65th, 119.
Buhler’s James Dingler and Trevor Tustain tied for 21st, 96; Carson Thibault tied for 27th, 97; Carter Stover tied for 34th, 99; and Brayden Adams tied for 54th, 111.
Nickerson’s top golfer was Kolten Altvater, who tied for 13th with a 90. He was followed by Addrick Nelson, tied for 31st, 98; Kyler Nikkel placed 50th, 107; Jacob Myers tied for 60th, 117; and Alfonso Lozano placed 75th, 130.

Haven baseball team ranked third in Class 2A
The Haven High School baseball team is ranked third in Class 3A in the latest Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches 2025 rankings.
Ranked ahead of Haven are Wichita Trinity Academy at No. 1 and Kansas City Bishop Ward at No. 2. Haven is followed in the 3A rankings by Cheney, Hesston, Silver Lake, Wichita Collegiate, Hoisington, Frontenac and Sabetha.
Other No. 1 teams are Blue Valley West, 6A; St. Thomas Aquinas, Class 5A; McPherson, Class 4A; and Pittsburg St. Mary’s Colgan, Class 2-1A.
Changes to Little River sports schedule involves Hutchinson Trinity
Marion dropped its softball program due to low numbers, so this Friday’s games at Marion will be baseball only.
Little River rescheduled its softball games at Hutchinson Trinity that were called last week due to weather.
The softball games will be played at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29.
The Little River-Trinity baseball doubleheader that was postponed will not be rescheduled.
