The Hutchinson City Council will vote and elect its mayor and vice mayor for 2025 Tuesday evening at its first meeting of the new year.

Currently, Councilman Greg Fast of the Southwest District serves as mayor, with Councilwoman Stacy Goss as the at-large seat serving as vice mayor.

The City of Hutchinson does not have a publicly elected mayor and the council will choose one of their own to serve as mayor.

Three out of the five council members have served as mayor previously, with Councilman Steve Garza serving as mayor in 2021 and Jon Richardson in 2023.

The mayor runs council meetings, signs city documents and proclamations and represents the City of Hutchinson to the broader community.

In other business, the council will consider approving the 2024 Housing Needs Assessment and enhancements for the Hutchinson Zoo’s master plan.

The Hutchinson City Council meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 5:30 p.m. at Hutchinson City Hall, located at 125 East Ave. B.
