The woman killed in an early morning rollover accident at the 56th Street and Plum Street roundabout has been identified as Terry Moore, 65 of Wichita, according to Steve Lutz, Patrol Captain for the Reno County Sheriff’s office.
Lutz said the accident at 56th Street and Plum Street is believed to be the first fatal accident at the intersection since the roundabout was installed.
Lutz said no other information is available on the accident.
An early Thursday morning rollover accident at 56th and Plum Street resulted in the death of a driver who remained unidentified at 1 p.m.
The Reno County Sheriff’s office, responding to a call received at 3:13 a.m., arrived at the scene and discovered a vehicle on its side in the northeast ditch.
A statement posted on the Sheriff’s website said it appeared the driver had been ejected from the vehicle during the accident, and lifesaving measures taken at the scene were unsuccessful. The driver was declared dead on the scene.
The Sheriff’s office statement went on to report it appears the vehicle was traveling southbound and failed to negotiate the curve at 56th and Plum Street leading to the roundabout and struck a culvert causing the vehicle to go airborne and roll.
“Positive identification has yet to be determined as there was no identification located on the scene,” the statement continued.
Along with the Sheriff’s office, responding agencies included the Hutchinson Police Department, Hutchinson Fire Department, and Reno County EMS.
A 1 p.m. call to the Sheriff’s office indicated there is no additional information to report at that time.
