Hutchinson High School head football coach Mike Vernon will be one of six assistant coaches for the West team at the 2025 Kansas Shrine Bowl all-star football game.

The head coach for the West team is Wichita Heights’ Dominick Dingle.

Other head coaches serving as West team assistants are Wichita South’s Russ Wells, Mulvane’s Daniel Myears, Council Grove’s Butch Hayes, Hesston’s Tyson Bauerle and Plainville’s Alex McMillian.

Wells (2020), Vernon (2021) and Bauerle (2018) have all assisted on the West staff in previous Shrine Bowls, while Bauerle also led the 2019 West team to a 26-7 victory as the Head Coach at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City.

The East Shrine Bowl team head coach is Sabetha’s Garrett Michael.

His assistant coaches are Blue Valley West’s Josh Koerkenmeier, Chanute’s Clete Frazell, Humboildt’s Logan Wyrick, Topeka Seaman’s Jared Swafford, Wellsville’s Mike Berg and Centralia’s Roger Holthaus.

“We’re thankful to have a great group of coaches willing to give of their time and talents to lead our teams in the 2025 Kansas Shrine Bowl,” said Brice Kesler, Executive Director of the Kansas Shrine Bowl, in a statement.

“It’s not an easy job to bring 44 players from different programs together and mold them into a team within one week. I have no doubt that these men will get that job done, while also exemplifying the mission behind the Kansas Shrine Bowl.”

The 52nd annual Shrine Bowl presented by Mammoth will take place Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Dodge City’s Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

The initial rosters for the game will be announced during the annual Kansas Shrine Bowl Player Selection Show, which is set to air at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.

The player selection show can be watched at www.KansasShrineBowl.com.
