The Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team (11-0 overall, 5-0 in Jayhawk Conference play with a 48-game winning streak) remained the No. 1 team in the NJCAA Division I poll and claimed all 12 first-place votes from coaches.
Dodge City is ranked No. 5 and Coffeyville received votes in the NJCAA Division I women’s poll.
Barton Community College (8-3), the defending NJCAA Division I men’s team and formerly ranked No. 1 this year, dropped to No. 18 after suffering three straight losses.
Butler Community College (10-1) and Cowley College (11-1) are ranked No. 8 and No. 9. Coffeyville received votes.
The Hutchinson Blue Dragon women’s and men’s basketball teams host Garden City Wednesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The women’s game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
The Blue Dragon teams will finish the first semester Saturday at Concordia against Cloud County. The women’s game starts at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 4 p.m.
The Blue Dragon men’s team is 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the Jayhawk Conference.
