HutchCC Blue Dragon women stay atop NJCAA I hoops poll, Dodge City No. 5

The Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team, the defending NJCAA Division I Tournament champions, are the No. 1 team in the NJCAA I Week 4 poll released on Monday.

Hutchinson has started the 2024-2025 season with a 10-0 record and has won 47 consecutive games (including a 37-0 mark last year).

Dodge City Community College (9-1) moved into the top 5.

In between the two Kansas Jayhawk Community College/Region 6 teams at Nos. 2, 3 and 4 are Northwest Florida State College (11-0), New Mexico Junior College (10-0) and College of Southern Idaho (9-1).

The Coffeyville Community College women’s basketball team received votes.

In the NJCAA Division I men’s basketball poll, Trinity Valley Community College (8-0) moved into the No. 1 spot.

Barton Community College (8-1) were dropped to No. 6 after the Cougars, the defending NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament champions, lost to No. 13 Cowley College 74-71 Saturday night at home in the Barton gym.

The Butler Community College men’s basketball team is ranked No. 9. Cloud County received votes.

The Blue Dragon women and men host Coffeyville Wednesday (5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) and Garden City on Dec. 11 (5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.).

The Blue Dragons will finish the first semester Dec. 14 at Cloud County (2 p.m. and 4 p.m.).
