Wichita State University redshirt senior middle blocker Morgan Stout, a four-year standout at Nickerson High School, was selected by the Vegas Thrill with the 25th overall pick of the Pro Volleyball Federation 2024 Draft on Monday.
Stout, a native of Fowler, is the first Wichita State player to be selected in the PVF Draft and the only player from the American Athletic Conference to be selected.
The Pro Volleyball Federation is a professional indoor volleyball league that completed its first season in 2024.
The league features eight teams: Atlanta Vibe, Columbus Fury, Grand Rapids Rise, Indy Ignite, Omaha Supernovas, Orlando Valkyries, San Diego Mojo and Vegas Thrill.
Stout was the first pick of the fourth round and the seventh middle blocker drafted.
Stout was named the Most Outstanding Player of the American Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday after leading the Shockers to three straight sweeps on the way to the title.
She was joined on the AAC All-Tournament Team by Wichita State teammates Alyssa Gonzales and Izzi Strand.
Stout and the Shockers will learn their postseason destination on the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show at 5 p.m. Central time Sunday on ESPN.
The first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament take place Dec. 5-7 (Thursday through Saturday).
Hutchinson Salthawk football players named to AVCTL Division I team
Several members of the Hutchinson High School football team, which finished the season with an 8-3 record and lost to Hays in the Kansas Class 5AS state semifinals, placed several players on the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division I team.
First team members: Kade Smith, running back; Terrell King, defensive back; Carter Morgan, linebacker; Skyler Ray, defensive end; Kaleb Cape, lineman; Taysen Runyon, kicker.
Second team: Jackson Anderson, linebacker; Taylor Rieman, lineman; Jaiden May, interior lineman.
Honorable mention: Spencer Riggs, defensive back; Brodie McCuan, defensive back; Kevin Wilson, linebacker; Deon Barrett, defensive end; Gavaughn Embers, interior lineman; Bailey Bishop, lineman; Levi Kepler, quarterback; Terrell King, special teams/punter; Tramel Walker, defensive back.
