Hutchinson, Buhler, Central Christian playoff games will be played Thursday

Kansas State High School football games involving area football teams will be played Thursday night.

The games were moved up one day because inclement weather is expected throughout the state of Kansas Friday night.

The Hutchinson Salthawks, No. 4 seed in Kansas Class 5A (7-2), will host No. 5 seed Liberal (7-2) in a Kansas Class 5A state playoff game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Gowans Stadium.

The Hutchinson High School Booster Club will pay admission for Hutchinson High School students in grades 9-12. Students will need their student IDs. Tickets for adults are $8. Tickets for students in grades K-12 are $6. Passes will not be accepted at Gowans Stadium.

Hutchinson High School senior fullback Kade Smith now had moved to 11th place on the state’s all-time season yardage list with 1,583 yards. He has scored 17 touchdowns. Against Salina South last week. Smith rushed for 189 yards and four TDs.  

Buhler, the No. 5 seed, will travel to No. 4 Mulvane for a 7 p.m. Thursday kickoff.

Hutchinson Central Christian’s Eight-Man II home playoff game against Logan/Palco will be played at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Christian.

No. 9 Hays (5-4) at No. 1 Great Bend (9-0)

No. 5 Buhler (7-2) at No. 4 Mulvane (7-2), 7 p.m. Thursday

No. 5 Haven (8-1) at No. 4 Hoisington (5-4)
No. 11 Halstead (4-5) at No. 3 Beloit (7-2)

CLASS 1A
No. 15 Trinity Catholic (4-5) at No. 10 Medicine Lodge (6-2), 7 p.m. Friday
No. 6 Sterling (6-3) at No. 3 Valley Heights (7-2)

8-MAN DII
Central Christian (8-1) hosts Logan/Palco (8-1), 5:30 p.m. Thursday
