Halstead captures Class 3A state volleyball championship

The Halstead Dragons volleyball team defeated Nemaha Central 25-23, 25-22 to capture the Kansas Class 3A state tournament championship Saturday afternoon at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

Halstead, the No. 1 seed at the state tournament, posted a 43-2 record in 2024. Coach Diana Schutte’s career record is 420-278.

The Dragons went 3-0 in Pool I play Friday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The Dragons defeated Royal Valley 25-15, 25-21, Nemaha Central 25-21, 25-23 and Beloit 20-25, 25-19, 15-21 in pool play.

In the semifinals, Halstead defeated Neodesha 25-19, 25-15 and Nemaha Central defeated Hoisington 25-21, 22-25, 25-23.

The Hoisington Cardinals (40-6) defeated Neodesha 25-19, 25-13 in the third-place march.

Inman volleyball places 3rd at Class 2A state volleyball

The Inman Teutons volleyball team (43-3) placed third at the Kansas Class 2A state tournament Saturday at Dodge City United Wireless Arena with a 25-21, 16-25, 25-16 win over Ellinwood.

Maranatha Academy won the 2A state volleyball title 25-23, 25-19 over Valley Heights in the championship match.

Inman reached the semifinals of the Kansas Class 2A tournament with a 3-0 record in Pool I play Friday.

The Teutons defeated Wichita Central Christian 25-9, 25-22, Oakley 25-15, 25-14 and Maranatha Academy 25-16, 25-21.

Bishop Miege wins Class 4A state volleyball title at Hutchinson

Shawnee Mission Bishop Miege won the Kansas Class 4A state championship Saturday at the Hutchinson Sports with a 25-22, 25-18 win over Rock  Creek.

Topeka Hayden won the third-place match over McPherson 25-23, 21-25, 25-20.

In the semifinals, Miege defeated McPherson 25-10, 25-21 and Rock Creek defeated Topeka Hayden 25-23, 21-15, 25-16.

Aquinas wins Class 5A state volleyball title at Salina

St. Thomas Aquinas defeated Topeka Seaman 22-25, 25-20, 25-9 to win the Kansas Class 5A state volleyball championship game Saturday at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina.

Lenexa-St. James Academy def. Wichita-Kapaun Mount Carmel 25-15, 25-10 in the third-place match.

The Great Bend Panthers lost all three of their pool play matches Friday. 

The Panthers lost to Wichita Kapaun-Mount Carmel 25-8. 23-25, 25-12, Lenexa St. James Academy 25-20, 25-17 and Andover 25-18, 13-25, 25-21.

Mill Valley wins Class 6A state volleyball title at Salina

Shawnee-Mill Valley defeated Blue Valley West 25-12, 20-25, 25-10 to win the 6A state championship.

Olathe West won the third-place match against Manhattan 25-12, 25-22.

Little River wins Class 1A Division I state volleyball title at Dodge City

Little River won the Kansas Clas 1A Division I state championship with a 25-18, 25-14 victory over Centralia Saturday at the United Wireless Center in Dodge City.

Clifton-Clyde won the third-place match over Rosalia-Flinthills 25-20, 25-23.

Little River went 3-0 in Pool Ii play and defeated Rosalia-Flinthills 25-16, 15-19 in the semifinals. Centralia defeated Clifton-Clyde in the other semifinal match 25-22, 25-15.

Little River posted a 40-6 record in 2024.

Hanover wins Class 1A Division II state volleyball title at Emporia

Hanover is the 1A Division II state volleyball champions.

Hanover, 3-0 in pool play defeated Lebo 25-20, 25-17 in the championship.

Ingalls won the third-place match over Argonia 25-20, 25-21.

Hutchinson Trinity’s Mattie Galliher named 2nd Team HOA volleyball team

Hutchinson Trinity Catholic senior Mattie Galliher was named to the 2024 Heart of America League All-League Team Second Team.

Inman placed three players on the First Team: Suttyn Harris, Taylor Froese and Kenna Woods. Two Inman players were named honorable mention: Ali Alcala and Morgan Froese.

Sterling’s representatives were Lily Gray, Second Team; and Shklar Olsen, honorable mention.
