The KSHSAA announced pairings for boys soccer regionals on Friday and state football matchups on Saturday.
Hutchinson and Buhler are the only Hutchinson Tribune area schools that have soccer programs.
Several area schools will participate in football playoffs.
Hutchinson, Buhler boys soccer pairings
The Hutchinson High School boys soccer team (11-3-1) will be the No. 5 seed overall in Kansas Class 5A and will host a West Regional No. 4 first-round game against No. 12 Andover (7-9) Monday at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Salthawk Soccer Complex.
The other West Regional No. 4 game will feature No. 13 seed Arkansas City (7-9) at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Center (11-3-1).
Buhler (6-8-2) is the No. 10 seed in Class 4A and will play McPherson (8-7-1) at 6 p.m. at McPherson.
The other Class 4A West Regional No. 2 game features Wichita Central Christian Academy (2-5) at Wichita Trinity Academy (12-4) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Hutchinson Salthawk football team will host Salina South in 5A state opener
The Hutchinson High School football (6-2) is the No. 4 seed in Kansas Class 5A and will host Salina South (1-7) in the first round.
The Salthawks, 42-20 winners over Maize South Friday, defeated Salina South 47-0 on Sept. 27.
Salina South snapped a 30-game losing streak two weeks ago against Haysville-Campus.
The Hutchinson-Salina South winner will play the winner of No. 5 Liberal (6-2) vs. Wichita Bishop Carroll (2-6) in the second round.
Great Bend (8-0) is the No. 1 overall seed in the Class 5A regional. The Panthers play Newton (0-8) in the first round. The Great Bend-Newton winner plays the winner of the matchup between No. 8 Andover (4-4) vs. No. 9 Hays (4-4) in the second round.
First-round matchups in the 5A West bottom bracket are No. 2 Goddard Eisenhower (6-2) vs. No. 15 Emporia (0-8), No. 7 Maize South (5-3) vs. No. 10 Salina Central (4-4), No. 3 Topeka Seaman (6-2) vs. No. 14 Topeka West (1-7) and No. 6 Goddard (6-2) vs. No. 11 Valey Center (2-6).
The Salthawks feature fullback Kade Smith, who rushed for 161 yards on 24 carries and scored three touchdowns against Maize South. Smith has rushed for 1374 yards and with 13 touchdowns this season.
Senior quarterback Levi Kepler passed for 75 yards and rushed for 48 against Maize South. He has completed 16-of-43 passes this season for 330 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Jeremyah Gaitho Karanu and Karmelo Green each rushed for 30 yards and Terrell King 17. Taishaun Williams caught 2 passes for 75 yards.
Buhler Crusaders are No. 5 seed in Class 4A
The Buhler Crusaders (6-2) are the No. 5 seed in the Kansas Class 4A West bracket and will host No. 12 Arkansas City (2-6) at Crusader Stadium in Buhler.
The Crusaders defeated Ark Valley Central Kansas League rival McPherson 28-21 Friday night.
McPherson (4-4) is the No. 8 seed in the Class 4A West bracket and will host No. 9 seed Abilene (3-5) in the first round of the state playoffs.
Buhler’s Jacob Miller scored on a 1-yard touchdown run and caught a 45-yard touchdown pass. Mitchel McDaniel scored on a 1-yard touchdown run and Quention Pisano caught a touchdown pass.
Buhler quarterback Brendan Scripsick completed 9-of-16 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 13 yards.
McDaniel ran for 53 yards, Dylan Scripsick 40, Max Harmony 34 and, Nick Gazaway 16.
Jacob Miller caught 2 passes for 85 yards, Pisano 3 for 53, Cash Carson 2 for 41, McDaniel 1 for 20 and Jared Miller 1 for 19.
Will Hanen led the Crusaders’ defense with 9 tackles.
Buhler outgained McPherson 373-208 in total yardage and had 19 first downs.
McPherson quarterback Carter Allen completed 11-of-20 passes for 164 yards. He threw three touchdown passes and was intercepted twice.
Haven, Halstead in Class 2A West playoffs
The Haven Wildcats (7-1) are the No. 5 seed in Class 2A West and will host No. 12 Cimarron (2-6) in the first round.
The Halstead Dragons (2-5) are the No. 11 seed and will pay a road game at Lakin (6-2).
Hutchinson Trinity, Sterling, Inman in Class 1A West playoffs
The No. 15 seed Hutchinson Trinity Catholic Celtics (3-5) will play a road game at No. 2 West seed Moundridge (7-0).
No. 13 seed Inman (4-4) will play a road game at No. 4 Smith Center (4-4).
No. 6 seed Sterling (5-3) will host No. 10 seed Medicine Lodge (5-2).
Little River in Eight-Man Division I playoffs
Little River (6-2), the No. 3 seed in Eight-Man Division I D3, will play a road playoff game at No. 2 seed D4 Lincoln (6-2).
Hutchinson Central Christian, Fairfield in Eight-Man II playoffs
Hutchinson Central Christian (7-1), No. 1 seed in D5, will host D6 No. 4 seed Macksville (3-5).
Central Christian is the District 5 Champs with a 52-6 win over Norwich Friday night.
Fairfield, No. 4 seed D5, plays a road playoff game at D6 No. 1 seed Victoria (8-0).
