Garden City CC to forfeit six wins due to ineligible player
The Garden City Community College athletic department announced Friday that the football program must forfeit all regular season victories to date for the 2024 season due to an ineligible student-athlete.
“First and foremost, we completed a thorough eligibility check on the student-athlete in question prior to the start of the season,” Director of Athletics Mike Pilosof said in a statement. “All processes and procedures were followed to the letter of the law by the standards set forth by the NJCAA.
“However, it was discovered that information was not disclosed to Garden City Community College. Once we were made aware of the situation, our athletic department immediately contacted the national office.”
The National Junior College Athletic Association’s ruling means that Garden City must vacate victories over Dodge City, Coffeyville, Ellsworth, Community Christian, Independence and Butler.
Garden City will play out the remainder of its schedule beginning with second-ranked lowa Western on Saturday at Broncbuster Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
