“Abigail Siemens and Addison Wedel ran very well in their first running of the course at Rim Rock Farm,” said Inman cross country coach Jay Parsons. “Both Abigail and Addison competed against 315 other runners in the Girls Blue Division race. Abigail ran as well as she did in the first meet of the year on a fast flat course compared to Rim Rock.
“After the race, Abigail said ‘Going to the Rim Rock meet was an exciting and memorable experience. Being surrounded by hundreds of runners to start the race was very intimidating, but the adrenaline kick prior to the race helped me push myself each mile.
‘Likewise, being surrounded by spectators at each spot in the race kept me busy instead of thinking about how much the running hurt. I really liked the course and would be thrilled if there were more similar to it. If I can change anything about the race, it would be the hills in the last mile and a half of the race.’
“After the race, Addison said ‘I really like the course, because it is really pretty scenery. The course itself is difficult with the terrain but the challenge was good because it pushed me. It was cool to run with so many people. This race in particular was rough for me to run because I was coming off of being sick.’”
Parsons said Riley Roots competed well in the Boys Blue Division race in which there were 402 competitors. Roots placed 38th with a time of 17:51.4.
“This was the second year that Riley has competed in this race,” Parsons said “He finished about 30 seconds faster and 22 places higher than he did last year. So, to say they ran very well on a tough course is saying quite a bit about their determination and strength.”
The next meet for the Teutons is Thursday at Harvey County East Lake, hosted by Berean Academy.
