The Kansas State High School Activities Association released its general classifications for the 2024-25 school year on Thursday morning.
These classifications impact all sports and activities, with the exception of football, which is on a two-year cycle.
Hutchinson High School, with 1222 students in grades 9-12, will remain in Class 5A for 2024-2025.
Hutchinson is the fourth-largest school in Class 5A. The largest 5A school is Kansas City Harmon with 1285, followed by Emporia 1283 and Leavenworth 1247. The smallest 5A school is Bonner Springs with 738.
Wichita East is the largest 6A school with 2544, followed by Wichita Southeast with 2542.
The smallest 6A school is Overland Park-Blue Valley North with 1410.
McPherson and Buhler are the second- and third-largest 4A schools at 688 and 678. The largest 4A school is Shawnee Mission-Bishop Miege with 692 and the smallest is Hugoton at 317.
Garden Plain and Olathe-Heritage Christian Academy are the smallest 3A schools at 174.
Other 4A schools of interest in Class 4A are Andale 385 and Pratt 336.
While Hugoton has 317, so do Iola and Kansas City-Bishop Ward, but they top the 3A schools.
Area schools in 3A are Nickerson 257, Halstead 238, and Haven 216.
Other schools of interest in 3A are Hesston 267, Cheney 235, Lyons 222 and Kingman 198.
Area schools in Class 2A are Sterling 158, Hutchinson Trinity Catholic 146 and Inman 137.

The largest school in 2A is Oskaloosa with 174 and the smallest is Highland-Doniphan West with 109.
Area schools in Class 1A are Little River 90, Langdon-Fairfield 82, Pretty Prairie 80, Hutchinson Central Christian 66, Cunningham 64 and Burrton 34.
The largest school in Class 1A is Lincoln with 108 and the smallest school is Winona-Triplains with 15.
